To Teachers - How to Enhance the efficiency of Software Teaching using Screen Recording Software

"Voting Question: How do you make little Quicktime tutorials?
I want to make a little video demonstration to my students how to do things in MS Office. For example, I would record myself Opening Excel, then entering data, and saving the file. The students will see all of the movements that I make with the computer and they would hear my voice explaining the steps. How do people do that? What kind of software do I need? What kind of equipment do I need? Thanks!"

I have seen this post in the Yahoo! Answer, a teacher submit this post, she need some help to make a demo for her students, as a computer student, I want to introduce the teachers a kind of demo creator tool to make the flash software tutorial easily.

"A picture is worth a thousand words", as you know, a flash visual tutorial with all of the operation steps will be easier to guide the students to learn the new software. These kinds of screen recording software will record the activities of screens, and also add many instructions and tips to the tutorial will make the operations clearer.

The following is a sample of video tutorial. It may need several minutes to load the flash file.

There are only three steps to make software tutorial by these kinds of screen recording software:

1.Record
Record the screen activities when you are operating the application. These screen recording software mirror the actions which have taken on screen, and add visual aids and interactive actions to the demo, no programming knowledge or multimedia skills required. Only a few minutes you turn what you see to what you want.

2.Edit
Add some callouts and balloons to make the instructions clear, and also add the narration by recording the sound from the microphone, no need other special devices or skills. Always these kinds of screen recording software support various kinds of interactive elements.
The following is a sample of Microsoft Office Word guideline. (How to color the selected words by Microsoft Word)

3.Publish
Publish the software tutorial as flash or e-learning courses, update to the blog to enrich the content. Most of these kinds of screen recording software support LMS (AICC/SCORM) compatible courses.

These kinds of  screen recording software are useful for teachers to do their own demonstration and tutorial by themselves, no need any other programming or media skills. Most of these kinds of screen recording software's menu are friendly and easy to use.
