Is Apple Poised To Make $600,000,000 On The iPhone Out Of The Gate?

At this weeks CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association) expo, Apple's iPhone made a brief appearance - and of course stole the show.

But that is just the tip of the iceberg.

The big news is AT&T announced they have over 1,000,000 requests for information on the iPhone.

If that translates into sales - and I suspect it will and more - Apple will gross over $600,000,000 from initial iPhone sales.

Now I just switched from a Palm Treo to the Cingular 8525, which is a damn amazing PDA. Windows Mobile is pretty good, the keyboard is awesome, built-in wi-fi, touch screen, etc. etc. etc. I'll have a full report on the 8525 in a future post.

But I will tell you right now if the iPhone had been available last month when I got the 8525, I would have went that route without hesitation.

Why? It's because of the iPod. It makes digital music easy to use, easy to get, easy to manage. If the iPhone does for cell phones what the iPod did for digital audio, there is a real change coming to the cellular industry.
