Mac Pick: NuFile
Over the years, I've written four pieces under the general heading of "Ten Programs I Can't Live Without," which always seem to be well-received. But since I only seem to be able to spit those articles out once every year, year-and-a-half or so, I'm going to use this blog to occasionally highlight a piece of free or cheap software that helps me in my day-to-day productivity. This inaugural pick is a Mac utility, but I do spend a fair amount of time in Windows as well, so I expect to feature anything that helps—regardless of platform.
With the context properly prefaced, today's pick is NuFile, a free utility that replicates one of the better features found forever in Windows: the right-click to create a new (or "nu," in this case) file or document. NuFile installs a contextual menu as well as a preference pane, the latter of which allows you to manage the types of files you want NuFile to be able to create. Then it's just a matter of right- (or control-) clicking on the Desktop or inside a Finder window, selecting "New File" from the contextual menu, and then choosing the file type. Blammo, instant file.

NuFile is free (with donations accepted), and is a Universal Binary utility. Grab yourself a copy and check it out.
