Hoodman: WristShot® Camcorder Support System
When I first heard about Hoodman's WristShot, this sounded like a solution to a old problem for me. The ability to film hand-held, and not suffer from shaky cam.
Because of the type of things I film, it's not always the time to set up a a tripod, or the room. or even the shot your going going to film needs the freedom you get with a hand-held.
So I recently placed the order for one, and it arrived.
I'll save the un-boxing shots, that?s so overdone.
Upon taking the WristShot out of box, which if you don?t have have some pliers, to cut cable ties with, to hand, can be tough, and taking the extra mounting plate, more on that shorlty... that's all you have. No instructions.
Removing the plate, to mount your camera on, can be a tricky, almost as hard as getting it back on, but this could be due to not having used this type of plate before.
From just the short time I've spent with it so far, I'd say, start with the camera on the WristShot, and only take it off if need be, because I found it hard mount it back on, unless I wasn't wearing it, though if you had a second person helping you, this might be easier.
The second mounting plate that comes with it, at first stumped me for what it was for, then twigged, that the pending on the type of tripod you use, it might be the wrong size for a tripod,. So with this extra one, you using the locking mechanism you use to attach the camera to the tripod, you put attach it to the tripod.
I guess pending on the size of your tripod, and type of camera this could be a problem.
Wearing the WristShot feels a little strange, but I'm sure after a while it won't.
I'll post a full review when I've filmed some footage and got used to it.
