Larry Jordan's Final Cut Pro 6 Essentials

Final Cut Pro Essential Editing by Larry Jordan, is an in depth to guide to editing video in Final Cut Pro 6, from lynda.com

This is first in depth tutorial that I've gone through, where I've had access to the training files used in the title.

The host for this title, Larry Jordan, comes over in a very friendly manner, and with the way he presents what he's talking about, makes it enjoyable to watch, and add to that he also adds some funny little anecdotes, from his experience of using Final Cut Pro.

I found it very easy to follow his instructions, and since I was using the same files he was, it was very simple.

At the beginning of each chapter, Larry briefly goes through what he will be showing us, and then goes into it, and at the end, he then sums it up, and gives a listing of any short cut keys that he has mentioned.

After watching the nearly 11 hours of training, I've feel that I have learned some really useful tricks, that I could either possibly use, or will use in some upcoming projects, like being able to make sub clips out of main clip.

The only part of the training, I had problems with doing, was with mult-cam.

But I think that was to do with my computer set-up rather than with the files.

I have a iMac 20" with 2 gig of ram, and wtth the footage being in High Def, trying to multi0cam between these four clips, brought up an error messages, about drop drames.

If i just watch the clips, they worked fine, so I think it's likely that it was my set-up.

Aside from that, there it was problem free.... welll minus, a minor nit pit I've have with several training providers, this just isn't a lynda.com issue.

I wish there was a way, that way to be able to stop, start, pause the video, without having to go back to the browser window where its playing.

Several times, while watching the videos,  as I was following on and replicating what Larry was doing, that I missed a step,  or wasn't sure, that I couldn't easily just rewind the video, first I've got to select the window the player is in, then pause the video, which in teh meantime has gone on a few steps, then move the play head back.

I don't know how you view the files on the DVD, but if it's a quicktime movie, I could use my Apple remote, to stop, start, rewind. etc.

But that's just a minor thing.

Great title over all, well worth either buying as DVD or buying one of the membership plans, if you can afford the Premium membership, I'd highly recommend it.
