Virtuos adoption of Allegorithmic Substance Air

You may remember the work that Sebastién DeGuy has done in the way of
plugins and shader solutions for the 3D community (especially the

Allegorithmic today announced that Virtuos, a leading provider of digital entertainment offshore production services, will join leading Asian developers NCSoft, The9, T3 Entertainment and Gravity as the latest company to adopt Allegorithmic's Substance technology into its art production pipeline.

Substance is the new suite of tools from Allegorithmic and includes Substance Air, the company's middleware solution that allows artists to easily produce micro file size textures, boost productivity and unleash user-generated content. Substance is poised to redefine the development and distribution of rich content for the next generation of online and retail games by guaranteeing the most advanced texture authoring process and the lightest texture description files.

"3D artists are increasingly in need of efficient compositing tools for creating dynamic textures," says Andrey Supryaga, senior art director at Virtuos. "The Substance suite of tools has allowed us to easily create those textures and dramatically boost our productivity by enabling rapid iteration."

Virtuos will deploy its Substance-trained artists on current projects, and will also integrate the tool into its next-generation art pipeline. Virtuos also plans to provide training and support for Substance in the broader Asia region.

"We believe that generative technologies such as Substance will become an industry standard in the near future," says Virtuos CEO Gilles Langourieux. "Our job is to provide the best quality assets while simultaneously containing production cost and Substance is helping us fulfill this mission like no other texturing tool on the market today."
