first consumer-focused customizable 3D merchandise platform, The
Shapeways Creator.
The Shapeways Creator, utilizing a 3D model library, allows consumers
to easily manipulate the structure, look and feel of their own products
online. For the first time, budding 3D artists, architects, product
designers and consumers of all skill level can create 3D designs
online, and Shapeways will print and mail the designer their creation
within 10 days.
Shapeways, a new platform and global community for 3D-design and production, takes a major step towards the next generation of consumer co-creation with the announcement of the Shapeways Creator. For the first time, consumers without 3D modeling skills can shape, mash, imprint and design their own 3D products via just a few mouse clicks at Shapeways.com. From lamps with a personal message to fruit bowls linking back to memorable moments, the Shapeways Creator has a starting library of pre-designed product templates which is expected to grow to over 100 designs by the end of 2009.

Nice concept. Unfortunately this kind of service buro's have a hard time to help customers deliver correct .stl files at the right size and quality. Just tried to order a object of 47 cm tall that costs 7.000 usd. Not really a bargain ;(
