Looking for a job in computer graphics? Need some tips to gain a leg up? Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH, Oregon and Southwest Washingtons local SIGGRAPH chapter, today announced Getting a Job in Computer Graphics, an event designed to aide promising artists in their career search. On April 3 at 6 p.m., a group of prestigious industry representatives, hailing from Hot Pepper Studios, Intel, LAIKA, Oregon Film & Video and Wieden+Kennedy, will provide first-hand knowledge of recruitment within the multimedia industry. Their discussion will include tips for creating eye-catching demo reels, writing relevant resumes and cover letters, phone interview skills and other practical advice to help wow potential employers.

Brad Smith, Founder and Creative Director, Hot Pepper Studios
Brad Smith is the founder and creative director for Hot Pepper Studios, an award-winning design studio located in Portland's fashionable Division / Clinton neighborhood. He is also the founder of the DevGroup NW and the executive director of the nationally-recognized WebVisions conference.
Kristin Dagg, Sr. Technical Recruiter, LAIKA
Kristin Dagg comes to LAIKA with 15 years of Recruiting and HR experience, having spent the last six years with Intel as a Sr. Technical Recruiter. While at Intel she was most recently responsible for managing the Graphics ramp for the newly formed Visual Computing Group, specializing in software recruiting. She has also recruited for positions in hardware, architecture, sales and marketing, and finance.

Betse Green, Senior Recruiter has been with LAIKA since October 2007. With over 20 years of full life cycle recruiting and management experience, she brings a breadth of knowledge from a variety of industries including Entertainment, Information Technology, Manufacturing, Medical and Legal. As Senior Recruiter for LAIKA her focus is recruiting all levels of Production professionals for LAIKA's Entertainment and House Divisions. Susan Haley, Marketing/Administrative Manager, Oregon Film & Video
A graduate of University of Oregon with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Susan Haley brings twenty eight years of business management and experience to the Film Office. As the Marketing and Administrative Manager, Susans focus is on operations, administration of incentive programs, and outreach to the Oregon independent filmmaker community. She has served as a Legislative Aide in the Oregon House, volunteered as a member of the Oregon Film & Video Foundation Board, served as Chair of the North Clackamas Park's Dept. Budget Advisory Board, and as an Area Rep for the North Clackamas Citizen's Association.
Michele LeFore, Studio Director, Wieden+Kennedy|Portland
When Michele LaFore landed her first job out of college in 1988 at Wieden+Kennedy|Portland as a studio artist, she never imagined shed be here 18 years later, directing a 77-member group of talented design and production professionals. Michele has worked on many prestigious brands including: Nike, Coke, Starbucks, Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Amazon.com, and Subaru. Graduating with a 1988 Liberal Arts Degree with emphasis in Graphic Design, Michele can tell you what a rubylith is, how to spec type, and custom kern with an X-Acto knife. While those methods are a thing of the past, she knew early on that innovation in technology was going to be the key to evolution of the studio, as well as servicing the unique needs of Wieden+Kennedy clients and their brands.
Location and Registration
The evening will begin with a networking and social hour beginning at 6 p.m. in the lobby of the PCC Cascade Moriarty Arts Building (www.pcc.edu/pcc/dmal/cascademap.htm). Parking and Directions
The PCC Cascade campus is close to downtown Portland, and parking is available across the street in the PCC parking lot for a small fee. Free parking passes will be available only to respondents who RSVP and request a parking pass by noon, April 1.
