Things to Do in Los Angeles: ID Vicious

There
is plenty of theater in Los Angeles.  Big, major production theater,
and smaller, avante garde or just new concept stuff that shouldn't be
missed.  My friend Brandee recently made it onto the stage featuring
the latter.

ID Vicious.  Yes, that's "id", not "Sid"...  A
Wednesday night performance each week of... well, improv comedy with a
punk rock edge.  More kind of sado-masochistic funny than punk rock,
but I guess safety pins in eyebrows, painful hair and mosh pits of the
80s were punk s&m too.

Brandee sent me a little review of what we're in for:

When I say we bleed for comedy, I mean it.  One of the first games up every  night and my personal favorite is a game called “Mouse Trap”.  Three team  players get a suggestion to improv a scene.  However, as an added bonus that has nothing to do with the scene is that we’re:

  1. blind folded
  2. barefoot and
  3. there are 24 set “real” mouse traps on the stage.

So if we hit one, we justify our pain and move on to the next one.  And yes, it  hurts like hell. We  play seven different group games with lots of energy every week.  So every time you come to support us, it’ll be a different show.  If you’re lucky you’ll get to see my second favorite game called  “Oxy Dip” where we have to stick our heads in a freezing Titanic icy cold bucket of water, justify why we left the scene, where we’ve been and why we’re wet as we rotate our trips to the bucket.  Good times!

The stage is in Hollywood, California:
1523 N. La Brea Blvd. Hollywood CA 90028 USA
