Digital Photography N Photoshop

Here's a picture of an early sunrise taken from a 10 level storey building
in Singapore. I really like the fact the top of the white building
is wet.. and thus catching the reflection of the sky... it really helps the
picture.

For some reason, we're always fascinated with sky.. especially the one with
clouds... oooh.. a black and white picture.. with lots of puffy white clouds..
oooh nice... we're so... gullible.

But indeed, clouds are beautiful.

How do we get it? Easy.

First of all, you have to really see the clouds.. if you take the picture when
you see the clouds.. you're 80% done. The rest of the 20% is how to bring
out more of the clouds during editing.

The answer.. simple... dodge and burn! YES! BURN THOSE CLOUDS!
Burnnnnn.. but not to the extent of altering your image that it looks fake..
finesse is needed here. lol.. just k/d.

The burn tool shortcut is "O"...

Burning basically increases contrast.. and that's what we want. In the old
days.. people often used yellow filter to bring out clouds... basically u're
burning while u're shooting... by putting yellow in front of the lens, you're
making white clouds become yellow, thus toning down overblown highlights
in the white clouds... but if you want max result.. use a dark deep red filter.
wow... u'll really separate those clouds from the sky. In fact, an infra red
filter will often cause the sky to be pitch black...
you can also try to use polarizer.. it's gray.. and there's a ring which you
can turn.. and you can see how you affect they sky.. it's quite a cool
and handy filter for many things.

But those of us that aren't blessed with an infra red camera, we still got
dodge and burn.. yeah. Dodge the highlight.. and burn the overall sky.
