A SECOND LIFE Sentence: A new store and Sculpted Prims, oh! my
I am starting a new 26-week ad campaign in Second Life's newspaper, Metaverse Messenger for my business in Second Life, The Oh! Factor. I also started working with the hot, new Sculpted Prims.
I sought the advice of two good friends and well-established entrepeneurs in Second Life, Robin Sojourner of Living Tree and Julia Hathor of Creative Fantasy Home & Garden. Both related stories of increased sales after advertising with Metaverse Messenger and so I decided this would be a wise investment. The first ad comes out this Tuesday and I hope to change the ad out every week.
In the weeks to come, I will report what happens with my business, which presently has been steady, but it has been hard to get the word out. As I tell friends, you are one in a gazillion other shops inworld.
I had been dying to get the time to play with Sculpted Prims, the hot new commodity in Second Life (Sculpted Prim Wiki). I started with an elegant little program by Yuzuru Jewell, Rokuro. Basically a lathe program, it gives you a given number of points which you move to create the shape to be lathed.
This necklace contains a little umbrella-shaped bead whose silhouette was created in Rokuro and textured in SL. The necklace was made with the assistance of Ged Larsen's new and wonderful, LinkRez.
There's so much more to explore with these sculpted prims and I am looking at pipelines that work with ZBrush3, Silo and hopefully Cinema 4D, Modo and maybe Hex for non-lathed objects. So much to do, so little time!
