Gil Izrriizzziiaaary.... "Gil Conoa" @ Siggraph
It's been several weeks since Siggraph happened, but I've been waiting for a few emails to come back in from some of the participants. Siggraph - as you might know - is all about Special Interest Groups for Graphics. But it was the first time that I saw a generic motion graphics user group meeting. It wasn't software specific, or method specific. It was just a place for people to get together from all over the country. Gil Irizarry, owner of CONOA Plugins decided that Siggraph needed it, and apparently he was right!

IBC, GOTTA SEE: 3D Stereo Tracking
PFTrack 5.0, now in 3D!
The new camera solver in version 5.0 supports true stereoscopic footage, working with both left and right eye images to produce a truly independent camera motion. Each ?eye? is solved as a distinct motion path and presented as a ?stereo? camera rather than just calculating an image plane offset. For the first time film makers working in 3D have a tool that enables them to maintain a true stereo VFX pipeline. PFTrack can pass data downstream to applications with stereo support, including The Foundary?s Nuke. http://www.thepixelfarm.co.uk/

World Airline Entertainment Association : Who knew?
WOW. Who knew that this event existed? I certainly didn't until my friend Vicky sent me a notice about Alioscopy USA showing off the new 3D monitors at the show.
This sounds like an interesting market for video producers from all areas of our field. It's all about new media. Certainly there's no reason for paying $5 for the crap in-flight movie... unless there's a 3D seatback player...
