BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! Three of the best graphic designers on the planet, Corey Barker, Dave Cross and Scott Kelby have joined forces to bring back one of the most successful seminar tours in history. Independent Filmmakers in LA
Eric Harnden has started a new group dedicated to the topic of independent filmmaking.
http://wordpress.quintessentialstudios.net/?p=255
Eric has connections to people in every aspect of filmmaking - from script to distribution. There are so many people in the Los Angeles area who have a film that they want to finish as an independent producer.
If you're in the Inland Empire, you might have difficulty finding people who are like you. Well, Eric is solving this by setting up a MeetUp group.
Check out his page for more information. If you're in Hollywood (January 19) you might even get a few minutes with him in person at dmala. Don't forget to sign up at http://dmala.eventbrite.com to get your FREE ticket (thanks to Adobe)

David Stripinis talks about Avatar with Brad Peebler
Luxology's President and Co-founder Brad Peebler is back on the Web again with a captivating podcast ("modcast") interview with virtual camera operator David Stripinis, currently at Double Negative in London's SoHo. Prior to Double Negative, Stripinis worked alongside Director James Cameron for three years on the recently released feature film Avatar.
In this extensive interview, Stripinis provides insight on the brand-new virtual filming techniques that are blurring the boundaries between pre-viz, production and post. Stripinis discusses how modo was his "swiss army knife" in a suite of CG tools, props and other content that were used daily to provide Cameron with a real-time environment to plan scenes in intricate detail. The challenges and deep benefits of this real-time approach to film-making are monumental, even beyond the obvious implications for visual effects.
