Think you can become a Hero?

There's a new game coming to town: Gods and Heroes. It is a MMORPG set in Ancient Rome. From first looks I think I will be addicted. I love that period of time and the be able to fight the mythical Medusa what else can a gladiator want? Check it out now and sign up for Beta!

Tiny Town Tinseltown

This town is getting smaller and smaller.

It seems that the longer I work in Hollywood, the more depth I see in it.  There are so many facets of the industry that I had either taken for granted before, or just hadn't recognized as connected to me.

I worked with a guy who owned a company "renting plastic tables".

But it wasn't just tables and chairs to production companies.  His logo is emblazened in all of its spray painted glory on each piece of furniture, apple boxes, scaffolds, ladders, sand bags...  and now I can't visit a set without seeing his stuff everywhere. Everywhere.

Toon It rocks!

I have been trying out Digital Anarchy's new Toon It that I saw at NAB and loving it! Its going to add a lot of fun to some projects im working on! I'll be doing a full review soon!

The Black Book

I had a chance to take a breather and go to the movies last nite. I talked my wife into seeing Paul Verhoeven's "The Black Book". If you have a chance and like World War 2 movies I definetely recommend it. Verhoeven is a master storyteller in this Dutch film. The shots are tremendous. He really delves you into Holland in WWII. He also adds a solid love story, great intrigue and lots of action.

My 2 coppers for today! Enjoy!

Greetings from Hollywierd

Dave here. I'm incredibly elated to be a part of the DMN gang. There are some great, talented folks here! For those who know nothing about me (where have you been?) I'm a filmmaker in Los Angeles. I have produced for the likes of Icon Entertainment, Showtime, and Lifetime TV. When I hit the big four oh a couple of years back I decided to make my won films. See all this digital stuff wasnt around when I was a little runt. I envy my unborn son as to what awaits him.

For many years, I was a huge film snob. "Nothing will ever replace the look of film!". Boy was I wrong. When I say what a 3000 mini dv camera could do, my mind was changed forever. I shot my first film in 12 days, on the DVX100a. Edited in Sony Vegas. And the best part? I sold it to Blockbuster. Am I hooked? Yes I am.

I have grown to embrace the digital film world. Its so exciting. I spend my days now learning fratically how to edit, use programs like After Effects and Cinema 4D. I love the creativity that these programs allow me to have.

The goal here is to apply all my new found knowledge with everything else I have learned in my 17 plus years in Hollywood.

If you are interested in my trials and tribulations feel free to visit my podcast @ www.filmmakingcentral.com

Anyhow, thanks to my friend Ko for hooking me up with DMN!

Cheers! Dave
