google Earth

Google Earth is a real trip. Imagine using it when under the influence of a controlled substance. Imagine not. Actually I really trip out on what NASA and Google have come up with. You can visit foreign lands without even leaving your chair. I just went to the Philippines via Google Earth yesterday, and while it isn't shown as developed as a city like San Francisco, there are elements that really can be detailed, like my parents home town, various subdivisions and such. There is also the Darfur hotspot where an entire village is shown, burned to the ground. Imagine that, while certain people try to become famous, lie, or try to become "cool," GoogleEarth shows what is uncool. There are more things in this life that are important than trying to be cool. I used GoogleEarth to test out the SpaceNavigator from 3dConnexion. Now there have been 3D input devices that enable you to manipulate 3D objects for quite a while, at least since the late 1990s. Today though, the device that would have cost you hundreds of dollars can be had for just $59. And it is cool. It glows blue and it even works with Photoshop CS3. Cool stuff, and built solid, like a work of art rather than a navigation device.
