"I'm afraid to see the movie as it may spoil my theory."
The irrepressible Zizek doing what
Zizek does best. If you haven't had the Zizek experience it really is
something to savour. An acutely articulate and nimble mind;
passionate, provocative but most of all adventurous as he digs into
the subconscious of cinema, cinema culture and the social constructs
of watching.
You can watch him in action waxing lyrical on film theory on this YouTube video.
His documentary A Perverts Guide to Cinema is one of the most remarkable documentaries I've ever seen
if for no other reason than the fact that you'll never be able to
look at a movie quite same way again. That and the clever technical
compositing that has Zizek appearing in the backstage of famous movie
scenes to dissect their sociological, moral and ethical previsions is
somewhere between sublime and ridiculous.
