I recently blogged that Apple's cost to build the new 16GB iPhone 3G S is around $179 and since it sells for $199 (with a new AT&T plan), $20 seems like chump change.  Well, TGDaily.com is reporting that Apple actually makes $420 on each iPhone sold.  How?!  Simple, AT&T (and other international carriers) have to pay a speculated $600 per iPhone charge.  Makes sense, actually, and the carriers clean up with two year contracts.
