The Flip Video Camera...Wild!
The Flip Video Camera...Wild!

The Flip Video camera is a neat little gadget that essentially acts like a point-and-shoot digital still camera, so you can record up to an hour of footage on a 1 GB memory card (the 512 MB card holds up to 30 minutes of footage).

You record in 30 frames per second (fps) in 640x480 resolution, which isn't bad at all.  It has a crazy flip-out USB connector to hook up to your computer (Windows or Mac).  There's also editing software included.  It uses a 1/4" VGA CMOS sensor; CMOS sensors are really exploding in popularity in video cameras.  Read the specs here.  The price is $119.99 for the 512 MB model (available in white), $149.99 for the 1 GB unit (available in black and white).

There's also a Flip Video Ultra Series that comes in different colors, a better viewing screen, less compression (4.5 mpbs vs. the Flip Video's 2.8 mbps) and more.  It's $149.99 for the 1 GB model, $179.99 for the 2 GB model, which can store an hour of footage (the 1 GB on the Ultra holds 30 minutes)--this is due to less compression, which is a good thing!

Check out all details plus accessories at theflip.com.  All prices are USD.
