Apple Releases Aperture 2.1 With Lots Of New Features

Not content to just sit back with their much-improved version 2.0 of Aperture, Apple's photo management and editing software application, the company just released version 2.1, which adds two major new features, along with several others:
1. 3rd Party Plug-In Support: now all your favorite plug-ins found in other apps, like Photoshop, will have a chance to create or port over their plug-ins to Aperture 2.1.
2. Dodge and Burn: if you're like me, you probably like to check out
Ansel Adams' books to learn more about photography. He always loved to use dodge (lighten tones) and burn (darken tones) to create stunning prints while processing film negatives. Photoshop has a tool like this, and now Aperture does, too. Plus Apple is encouraging the 3rd parties to take this valuable tool to the next level with their plug-ins.
You can buy Aperture 2.1 for the low cost of $199 or upgrade for $99, plus find more details, at
apple.com/aperture. If you already own Aperture 2, version 2.1 is a free update to download via your software update. Also, check out
