Lenovo introduces U1 hybrid notebook that features detachable screen that can work on its own as a slate tablet
While all eyes are on Apple, Inc. and its so called Tablet device, Lenovo announced the IdeaPad U1 hybrid notebook, essentially two computing devices in one, each with its own CPU and operating system. The U1 can work either as a clamshell laptop running Windows 7, or as a multi-touch slate tablet running Lenovo's Skylight operating system. Remove the screen and use just the screen as a slate tablet. Attahc the screen and use the device as a notebook computer. According to the company, both devices can sync up to work together to share battery power, 3G wireless, data and documents. In addition, the base laptop system can work as a hub while the slate tablet can work independently as a mobile device. The U1 is expected to ship in June 2010 at a price less than $1000.
