Google, which got into the phone business with a mobile OS, announced that it indeed is coming out with its own mobile phone to compete with other mobile phones that offer display advertising capabilities, the AP is reporting. The phone, called the Nexus One, was announced today, with Google employees receving the devices three weeks ago.  

Google is betting that ad sales will escalate on mobile devices and as such needed its own device to protect its ad revenues. The company also is attempting to acquire AdMob for a reported $750 million. Apple, Inc. also announced a deal to buy Quattro Wireless to in essence keep things on an even keel with Google.
