New Update: Looks like it was a sonic boom from a falling Russian rocket, according to the Washington Post.

Old: Okay, so this isn't TOO techie, but it's cool nonetheless.  And how many of you tech junkies love this kind of stuff?  Anyway, there were some lights in the sky over the U.S. east coast, from North Carolina to Maryland (along with a loud explosion-like sound), and it prompted tons of calls to authorities.  Cue the X-Files theme song!  Video via Yahoo.  (Sorry, no images yet.  I'll update if any come in.)
