WALL-E becomes first Arabic language game for current gen consoles

PC Mag is reporting that Disney/Pixar's WALL-E has become the first current gen game to be translated for Arabic language gamers!

THQ UK Limited and Pluto Games announced today the launch of Disney-Pixar’s WALL-E, the first Arabic localised video game, to be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PSP. Disney-Pixar’s WALL-E the video game is the official game of Disney-Pixar’s blockbuster animated movie WALL-E, the story of a robot left alone on earth and his journey to find the true meaning of what he was really meant to do.

“We are delighted to be part of this, launching an Arabic game is every Arabic gamers’ wish. It will give us great opportunity to grow promising territories like Saudi and Egypt. It is a solid demonstration of our commitment to the Middle East market. It is Pluto Games’ enthusiasm and drive that made this commercially possible. We do hope it will be the first of a long line up for Arabic titles in the future,” said Luke Keighran, THQ's Export Sales and Marketing Manager.

WALL-E the video game is set to release on June 27th in all gaming outlets across the GCC. The movie is set to arrive in theatres on July 3rd.  It is available in English & Arabic on Playstation 3, PSP and Xbox 360, and also in English only on Playstation 2, Windows PC, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo Wii. “There are only few games that would suit the Middle East’s morals more than WALL-E. The game depicts family virtues through a fun and adventurous story line,” Keighran added.

Players will take control of WALL-E and EVE through a fast-paced adventure based on the upcoming Disney•Pixar film.  The game will allow fans to relive some of the movie’s most thrilling moments as they explore 10 worlds filled with non-stop action and adventure, along with head-to-head multiplayer challenges. Players will also recognise the storyline, characters and key locations from the WALL-E film as they carry out intense missions, dodge dangerous enemies and navigate their way through a futuristic world. In addition, the game will contain new storylines and environments that movie-goers will not see in theatres.

“WALL-E is the first ever next generation video game to be produced in Arabic. We are seeing encouraging growth of both the Xbox360 and Playstation 3 formats and are delighted to be able to finally distribute a product that speaks our language, We hope others will follow THQ’s steps forward and help grow the gaming industry in the Middle East,” said Rabeeh Zakaria, THQ's Product Manager at Pluto Games.
