Digital Television In One Year!

In exactly one year, the government-mandated switch to DTV (Digital Television) broadcast, from an analog one, around since the dawn of TV, will take effect. If you don't use rabbit ears, or you have a new TV, no need to worry. Heck, you should be fine with a cable- or satellite-receiver. But if you have an older analog TV and you're using said rabbit ears, you're in luck!

Around 10 years ago, my fellow TV station employees and I were all talking about just this, though I think at the time, the deadline was something like 2001 or 2002. (Oh, well...better late than never.) That TV station,
WPTV NewsChannel 5 in West Palm Beach, FL, built a new DTV tower, as did the other local affiliates, that could handle high definition broadcast. DTV doesn't require it, but networks and stations will be doing so, if not already, like WPTV and the other locals.
