Generally, adding a video to your presentation goes easy with a few clicks on Insert > Movies and Sounds > Movie from File (in PowerPoint 97-2003) or Insert > Movie > Movie from file (in PowerPoint 2007).
But the video may not play in your PPT presentation due to a wrong file
format. You know, PowerPoint only recognizes 4 video file formats - ASF, AVI, MPEG and WMV.
So, when you are about to insert a flash video from YouTube or
Google Video, or a recorded video from your digital camera or Web
camera, or a portion of a DVD movie, youd better check whether it is a
compatible file format to PowerPoint.
Here is a list of how-tos for 6 different types of video to insert to a PowerPoint presentation.
Insert YouTube Video to PowerPoint
Sure, you can play a YouTube video directly in your presentation
using the embedding method, i.e., simply copy and paste the embed code
of the video page to the target slide. Note that you must have Internet
connection to make the embedding method work.
In case YouTube is blocked on the target computer, you can download
it to your local drive, convert to a supportable video format like AVI
or WMV, and insert to your PowerPoint presentation. Because YouTube
videos are in FLV, a file format that is not supported by PowerPoint.
If you want to use a funny video stored on your Canon or Nikon
camera, you can copy and paste it to your PC. Save the camera video to
AVI, and insert to your PowerPoint presentation.
Insert VHS/Analog Video to PowerPoint
For VHS or analog videos, you need to use a video capture app or
device to convert them to digital ones. Then, save the converted videos
as AVI or WMV and insert to your PowerPoint presentation.
Insert Web Camera Video to PowerPoint
You recorded a video clip with a web camera on your Dell. Now you
would like to use it in a PowerPoint presentation. So, re-save the
recorded video clip to AVI. Next, follow the Insert method mentioned at
the first line to insert it to your PowerPoint presentation.
Insert QuickTime Movie to PowerPoint
Actually, an Apple QuickTime movie (.mov) file is not a supportable
video format by PowerPoint. You cannot insert it directly to
PowerPoint. You can hyperlink the QuickTime movie to PowerPoint, or
convert the MOV file to AVI or WMV and insert to PowerPoint.
IMPORTANT PLUS:
To keep your video-inclusive PowerPoint presentation work on a
different computer, do not forget to place the source video file and
your presentation in the same file folder. Copy the folder to a USB and
paste it to the target computer. Sometimes, you need to insert the
video again to your presentation.

PowerPoint Options - Add YouTube Add-in in PowerPoint
YouTube Video Add-in
Insert YouTube Video Via URL in PowerPoint
Embed YouTube Video
YouTube Video in PowerPoint
YouTube Video Playing in PowerPoint
Explanation
While
you can always download YouTube videos and insert them into PowerPoint
but there is another easy way to embed YouTube videos in PowerPoint if
you do not want to download YouTube video and want to insert video using its URL from YouTube.
You will need an add-in for PowerPoint which will add a new option of 'YouTube Video' under 'insert Tab'.
Download
add-in based on MSOffice version at the bottom of the post and add
add-in in PowerPoint using the following method. Its a YouTube Video
Wizard (YTV) add-in for PowerPoint.
For PowerPoint 2003 and earlier versions
Extract the contents of the zip to a folder.
Launch PowerPoint.
Click on Tools > Add-ins to bring up the add-ins window.
Click on Add New and navigate to the folder where the contents of the zip file was extracted and select 'YouTubeVideo.ppa' and click OK.
You
might be prompted with the macro virus warning. Enable the macros. When
the Add-in is properly loaded, it will display a tick against the
add-in name.
That's it. You have successfully loaded the add-in.
For PowerPoint 2007 or 2010
Extract the contents of the zip to a folder.
Launch PowerPoint.
Click on Office Button > PowerPoint Options.
In the PowerPoint Options dialog, select the Add-ins tab.
Select 'PowerPoint Add-ins' from the Manage drop down and click 'Go'
On
the Add-ins dialog, click 'Add New' and navigate to the folder where
the contents of the zip file was extracted and select
'YouTubeVideo2k7.ppa' and click on OK.
You might be prompted
with the macro virus warning. Enable the macros. When the Add-in is
properly loaded, it will display a tick against the add-in name.
That's it. You have successfully loaded the add-in.
Using
Microsoft PowerPoint You can also double click 'YouTubeVideo2k7.ppa'
directly which will bring up PowerPoint and the add-in will be loaded
for you for that session to use.
Above solution works great, the only problem is that it streams live videos so an internet connection
is required to playback the video during the slide show. If you plan to
deliver a presentation without internet, take the following approach.
If you are interested in embedding YouTube videos in PowerPoint offline then you have to download and convert video
from YouTube first and then embed into PowerPoint. First download the
YouTube video locally in either WMV or AVI format because PowerPoint
doesn't understand the default FLV or MP4 formats of YouTube. You can
either use free online services
to save any YouTube video as an AVI file. Simply use insert option in
PowerPoint and then select 'Movie' tab to embed video from your
computer into PowerPoint.
Actually, there are also other methods of embedding a Youtube video into PowerPoint, see the tutorial:
You
would think that you could just write your powerpoint file to a DVD and
it would just work. We're sorry to report that's not the case. But
we're pleased to report that it's not that difficult. This tutorial
will show you how to put your powerpoint presentations on to a dvd in 3
easy steps.
Step One - Capture
Most powerpoint slideshows
have movement and animation. We want to preserve this animation on the
dvd. For this we used a product called Camtasia
to grab the slideshow and save it to a video file. You can read more
about all the software we have used at the end of this tutorial.
Step Two - Conversion
Without getting too technical, your PC runs at a certain resolution (or
quality), DVD's run at another resolution. Therefore we need to convert
the captured video file to DVD quality. For this we will use a product
called Nero Vision Express. We will create a nice DVD menu at the same time.
Step Three - Writing the DVD
We've capture the slideshow, converted it to DVD resolution, created a
nice DVD menu, now all that is left is to write (burn) the DVD disc.
Please Note:
We do not make, sell or support, the Camtasia or Nero software, we just wrote this tutorial to help powerpoint users.
Optimizing your computer before you start:
To get the best results from Camtasia while grabbing your slideshow, keep these points in mind:
Turn
off any software you have running in the background. e.g. Virus
checkers. Pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del will show you what is running.
Run Scandisk and Defrag (Programs > Accessories > System Tools)
As
mentioned in step 2 above, dvd has a resolution of 720x480. So we need
to capture our slideshow at a similar resolution. In our case 800x600
is a close match to capture at, as we cannot set our PC to 720x480.
Also 800x600 will scale down better than 640x480 will scale up.
1
Change the desktop resolution to 800x600 by right clicking a blank area of your desktop, choose "Properties".
2
Click the "Settings" tab, then move the "Screen Area" slider to 800x600 pixels.
3
Change
the "Colors" to your highest setting. Ideally set it to (True Color)
32bit, 24bit will also work. Click "OK". Then follow your particular
on-screen instructions to finish changing the desktop resolution
4
Start Powerpoint. Open
your slideshow. We recommend having a totally blank first and last
slide, or a slide that follows your template but with no content.
5
Select the "Insert" menu and choose "New Slide", select the "Blank"
Layout from the "slide layout" on the right of your screen. Then go to your current last slide by holding down the "CTRL" key then press "End".
Then repeat step 5 to add a new last slide.
6
Go
back to your first slide (CTRL-Home), and select the "slideshow" menu,
and choose "Slide Transition", make sure that "On mouse click" is
ticked. This will make the first slide pause before we start capturing our slideshow.
Then save your presentation. "File" > "Save"
7
To give your PC less to do while capturing your slideshow save your presentation as a "presentation show"...
Select the "File" menu, choose "Save As...."
Change the "Save as type" to "powerpoint show (.pps)". Click "Save"
Quit out of powerpoint.
8
Now
we are ready to capture the slide show. Start Camtasia Recorder. Check
that it is set to record the "screen" by selecting the "Capture" menu,
choose "Input" and select "Screen".
9
This step is optional, but we found it gave much better results with our particular presentation. In Camtasia Recorder, click "Tools", then "Options", click the "AVI" tab along the top. On this page turn off "Auto Configure". Set the frames/sec to 10.0
Click "Video Setup". Untick "Key Frame Every 80 frames". Click OK.
Click the "Program" tab, Then tick "Boost priority during capture". Click OK.
10
Navigate to your powerpoint show (the .pps file from step 7) using windows explorer or "my computer".
Double click your file e.g. mypres.pps
11
The 1st slide will be displayed until you press a key to move on to the next slide. Tip:
We got better results if we went through the presentation once, before
doing the actual capture. This allowed the PC to cache the presentation
in its memory.
12
When you press F9 Camtasia Recorder will start recording everything that happens on the screen. When you are ready, press F9, then press the space bar to start your presentation proper.
13
If
your presentation is set to wait for a mouse click to move through each
slide, remember to give the audience time to read each slide, before
pressing the space bar to move to the next slide. One way of doing this
is to read the slide out aloud.
14
When you reach your last blank slide, Press F10
to tell Camtasia Recorder to stop recording. You will be prompted to
save the captured slideshow, so choose a directory and enter a filename.
Click "Save". Camtasia will save your capture as an .AVI file.
15
That's it for Step One. We told you it was easy!
16
View what we grabbed from powerpoint.
How did we do that? We used Camtasia Producer to save our captured
video file to a flash (swf) file. Trust us, when we say this powerpoint to flash is a very powerful feature of Camtasia.
Click
the "Browse for media" button. Navigate to where you saved the original
camtasia captured video file. Select the File and click "Open". Nero
will display an icon to represent your video clip.
5
Right click the newly added video clip icon and choose "Add to Project"
6
Nero will add your video to it's storyboard You can add transitions before and after each video clip using nero if you want to. We didn't.
7
If
you want to add any kind of soundtrack or music to your video clip,
this is the time to do it. Click the "Show Timeline" button Then simply browse to your existing audio clip, then drag it from the media list to the "timeline" area marked "Audio 1".
8
Click the "Next" button.
If
you want to add any more powerpoint slideshows, then repeat steps 3
through 6. Obviously you will also have to capture each presentation
using camtasia by following Step 1: Capture.
9
Click the "More>>" button Click the "Video Options" button
10
Change
the "Video mode" to NTSC for the United States, or scroll down the list
to your country for other modes (e.g. Select PAL for the UK). Click the "Next" button.
11
The "Create Menu" page is where you design the 1st screen people will see when they view your DVD. You can add backgrounds, change colors, fonts, etc. It's all fairly self explanatory. For our DVD creation we choose "Layout 2", a still background image, and added a title of "Select a video show".
Click Next
12
The
"Preview" screen allows you to view and test your dvd. Clicking the
Menu button on the remote control will always bring you back to this
1st screen. Click "Back" if you would like to change how your DVD will look or Click "N
As
what you've read, it is very troublesome to burn PowerPoint onto DVD
with the capture software Camtasia and the burner Nero, and you may
need to spend hundreds of dollars to buy the two applications. Is there
a easy and cheap way?The answer is "Yes". Moyea PPT to DVD Burner
is such a tool to burn your PowerPoint file onto DVD disc directly
within 3 steps: Insert,Output Options Setting and "Start". But don't
worry about it is price, you can get it now at less than 100 dolloars.

Love is in the air! And that means Valentine's Day is right around the
corner. What better way to show someone you care then to make them a
valentine that comes from the heart? There is no limit to the styles,
designs and materials you can use to make your cards. Need a little
inspiration? Here are 7 cute designs to let your love shine:
Be Mine Valentine:
This beautiful card uses beads for added dimension. It's more time
consuming and messy than some of the others, but it's also fun to make
and it is a good way to use up all of those stray beads from the bottom
of the craft box.
Stained Glass Hearts:
These stained glass hearts are actually incredibly easy to make. And
they look awesome decorating a card for your favorite sweetheart. You
can make just one or make a whole bunch to decorate cards or hang in a
frame for your valentine.
Cupid Heart:
I'm usually not very fond of foam craft projects because the foam
itself is not very green and because the crafts rarely come out looking
right. But this homemade Valentine's Day card is the exception. It uses
two foam hearts glued together with a feathered stick threaded in
between. I have to admit that it really comes out looking cool. So if
you happen to have some of these foam hearts in your craft box
(recycled card stock would also work) you can whip up a valentine that
Cupid would be proud of.
Love You: Looking for an elegant way to profess your love? This handmade valentine is simple, green and fun to make.
Give A Hoot:
This Valentine is a "wise" choice for the classroom. Kids can make one
for each of their friends and include a fun pencil that their
classmates will love.
Love Bug:
You'll need quite a few supplies (felt, embroidery thread, cardstock,
and an unfinished wooden angel shape, among other items) to put this
lady-love-bug together, but the results are well worth it. You probably
wouldn't want to make one for every kid in the classroom, but it makes
a perfect card for the teacher ... or even for mom and dad!?
PowerPoint
E-cards: It is easy for you to add the videos, photos, voices that
witness the love between you and your Valentine with the PowerPoint
app. and you can also add any words you want to say to him/her on the
slides. It must be a good Valentine's Day gift for treasuring up if you
burn the slideshow onto DVD with Leawo PowerPoint to DVD Pro.You can even convert the PowerPoint to Video to share with others on Youtube, Hulu, Metacafe or iPod,iPhone,iPad.
Make This Valentines Day Memorable for Girlfriend with Low Budget
Valentine comes nearer and nearer, you should learn some ideas to
make this Valentines Day memorable and romantic for a woman. Even when
adhering to a budget, the day can still be special!
Men are in need of some sympathy. Every year, they must raise the
bar higher and make Valentines Day bigger and better than the previous
year. How is this possible for a man who does not have a lot of money
to spend?
Simple Present Ideas for Women, Sweet Cheap Gifts for Girlfriend
Sometimes the simplest present is the best way to say, I love you.
The extravagant is great too, but often the little things are what
count in a womans eyes. For example, just acknowledging the day itself
and making it her day all day is a start. Men should remember
Valentines Day is mostly for women.
Here are some romantic and cheap ways to celebrate and spoil a sweetheart all day long:
Buy or make pancake batter. It should not cost over $5 for a whole
box of pre-made batter. Then buy heart-shaped cookie cutters. From Chef
Central, one cutter costs a mere 69 cents. On Valentines Day morning,
make a breakfast complete with heart-shaped pancakes. Shell love the
thoughtful touch!
Also for breakfast, buy a carton of orange juice (no pulp) and a
bottle of affordable champagne. Mix both together and voila! A mimosa
for a sweetheart.
Buy flowers. Yes, boys, flowers are the way to a womans heart.
However, a man doesnt have to spend a fortune on long-stemmed roses.
Instead, opt for a single long-stemmed rose and put it across her empty
breakfast plate or in a small vase next to the place setting.
Buying chocolate can be difficult. Some women are on a diet, others
will eat to nauseum and then blame the man for bringing it in the house
in the first place. The safest bet is to buy a sampler box of four
chocolates that she can enjoy throughout the day and return to normal
eating habits the next.
What Are the Best Gifts for Valentines? Unique Gifts for Girlfriends or Wives
So the breakfast was perfection and shes now basking in the
afterglow. But what does a man do for the rest of the day and how does
he incorporate the big, grand finale present?
Plan a simple, fun and cheap activity. This activity is the big
present, so put thought into it. Since in most places in February its
cold, an indoor activity may be the best choice. For example, take the
woman to a special showing of a romantic movie.Often times at
independent movie houses, they show romantic classics on Valentines
Day. Buy tickets in advance though because many other men may have this
idea too! Two tickets, plus popcorn and drinks will cost around $30. If
you know how to make a slideshow, you can make one on your love stories
adding the videos, photos, vocices recorded of happy moments and
unforgettable memories or with your words from your heart to her.Burn
the slideshow onto DVD with Leawo PowerPoint to DVD
Pro, and watch the DVD slideshow on TV with her, she will surely be
moved. For a sportier girlfriend, take her ice skating or find an
indoor rock climbing wall.
For those in warmer climates, pack a picnic lunch and take a special
hike - maybe one the couple has been wanting to do all year long. If
the man executes the hike, he looks like hes thoughtful and a great
listener.
When a man chooses to spoil his Valentine, he doesnt have to be a
millionaire to make the day special. Plan ahead and keep with simple
and budget-conscious ideas. As long as the woman feels spoiled and
special then the day will be a success!
Best Valentine Gift for Your Beloved Sweet Video Slideshow
In this February, color balloons, cards, candies, flowers and a
great selection of cupid gifts are flooded across towns as usual, all
in the name of St. Valentine's. Valentine's Day is a great occasion for
loved couples and amicable friends to deepen their relationships with
various gifts.
Generally, a creative and cute gift is no other than a perfect
choice to reflect how profound your love and care are for your beloved.
Instead of a traditional gift-from-shop, you can make something
yourself that is fit to your sweetheart. A DIY valentine video should
work well in incubating an air of romance. It is easy to achieve merely
in several steps.
First, take MS PowerPoint to draft a valentine presentation.
As to video-making, PowerPoint may be taken into the first
consideration. It is a wonderful tool to author an enticing
presentation with a host of effects including animations, sound tracks,
movie clips and chic pictures. You can compose a stunning PowerPoint
presentation injected with every element of the Valentine's Day, e.g.
love poem as text, sweet photos as background, nice music across the
slideshow, and your own voice of love as narration.
Next, convert the valentine PowerPoint to video format.
After the valentine presentation is completed, convert it to a portable video with Moyea PPT to Video Converter.
It is a reliable software program that can help you quickly create your
valentine video from PowerPoint, while retaining every subtlety of the
original work. If you forgot to add a soft song as score in the
PowerPoint, you can also put one in with the PowerPoint to video
converter. The whole conversion takes only a few minutes.
Finally, connect the unique valentine video to your unique one.
When
the PowerPoint presentation is output to a video file, you can set it
secretly onto the mobile device of your beloved at the eve of the
Valentine's Day. When it comes to the very moment, she/he should be
surprised by your special gift. Just get all geared up with your
darling and turn on the cheerful mood to watch a sweet video slideshow
together.
Sounds not bad for the Valentine, doesn't
it? So come on and celebrate the Valentine's Day with a romantic video
of you two. Let your lovely gift, or your love and care, always be with
your beloved, at any time, any place.
Although this sounds like it should be the easiest thing in the world
to achieve, the reality is often the exact opposite, and so I felt it
was worth writing a simple explanation of the process.
Before you start there are a number of things to bear in mind;
Video
files are not actually embedded, into your PPT presentation, they are
simply linked, which means the video files need to be placed in the
same folder as the PPT presentation, and remain there, if the link is
not to be broken. This folder should always be on the hard drive. Never
try to play videos from a CD, always copy them over for best results.
So how do we go about getting the videos ready for PowerPoint?
Firstly,
the video files must be in a compatible format, such as AVI, MPG or
WMV, and which formats work best varies depending on the laptop and the
version of PPT you are using.
If
we know you will need to use the files in PPT, we will prepare the
correct versions for you, bearing in mind a number of things which are
outside our control, such as speed and power of the delivery laptop and
the resolution of your presentation.
If
we make files too tiny they will display too small, and will then
appear fuzzy if they get resized. (NB: Never do this! More later) If we
make them too large the laptop can sometimes stutter or even crash. As
a result, we tend to go with a standard size of 640 x 480 pixels, or if
we are confident of your delivery laptop, maybe 800 x 600 pixels.
The
presentation resolution will depend on the screen resolution of the
host laptop, or will have been set in the master template, but is
likely to be either 800 x 600 pixels, in which case the video would
show up in a box slightly smaller than full size; or it may be 1024 x
768, so the files at 640 x 480 would occupy about two thirds screen
size. If we can find out what resolution you are using for projection,
we can make files which fill the frame, assuming the laptop will be
able to cope.
The process of linking the files is quite straightforward;
1 Go to the slide where you would like the video to appear
2 Go to Insert; Movie on the menu
3 A dialogue box will display asking if you wish the movie to
play as the slide displays, or wait for a keypress. If your video is
playing from its own slide then the former would apply, but if you have
a title or some other information displaying before the video, we
recommend choosing the latter, so when you hit the space bar, the movie
will run.
4 A video box will appear on the slide for you to position it as
you wish. For all sorts of complicated reasons, the one thing you must
not do at this stage is resize the video box. Videos must stay at the
size they are when they are imported, if the quality is to be
maintained. Resizing the video box will almost guarantee that the video
displays at a lower quality.
To
determine the optimum size for your final videos, we can provide sample
videos at different sizes and in different formats. You should soon be
able to work out which version works best.
To summarize then;
1 Make sure the video files are in the right format and are the right size for your computer and software.
2 Make sure you have copied the video files to the same folder as your presentation.
3 Menu Insert; Movie
4 Dont resize the movie!
Good luck and you know where we are, if you have any further questions!
